CLASS OBSERVATION N°7

CLASS OBSERVATION N°7
Saturday, October 22nd 2016
This Saturday, I presented an hour class, I was happy to see my students again so, I tried to bring some candies and I made colorful worksheets.

Activity N° 1 : Warm-up

At the beginning, Ss had to work in groups of four. Each group needed to choose a runner, who was going to run and burst a balloon that was in front of the class. Ss must burst the balloon without using their hands or feet and pick up the pieces of paper inside. Then, Ss had to return to their groups and together Ss must put the sentences in the right order. The group who finished first was going tobe the winner.

(Students loved this activity, each student could participate).

Activity N° 2: Vocabulary

Besides, 10 images with their 10 corresponding names were presented to Ss. T asked them to stand up and take one picture or one name, besides T asked Ss to choose their partner related with their picture or name and get together. Ss were asked to paste on the board their picture with the corresponding name. Later, T asked Ss if they know the meaning of each word. If Ss did not know, T explained each word. After this activity, a question was presented for students “what do you after the school?” in order to share their information. Besides, T asked Ss to work in their books in exercises 1 and 2. When Ss finished, they shared their answers with their classmates.

(Similar to the previous activity, Ss participated and showed a good behavior).

Activity N° 3: Listening Part I

T presented an audio. Ss had work in pag.12 exercise 1, second part, then Ss listened to information about what speakers do after school and they had to circle the correct answer. Besides, T played the same audio one more time. At the end, Ss were asked to check their answers with a partner.

( Ss showed a really good comprehension of the audio and they answer the question in the first time).

Activity N° 4: Listening Part II

One more time, T played the same audio, but in this exercise, T explained Ss to listen to the information carefully and decide if the sentences were True or False. Besides, Ss must work in part II, pag. 13, exercise 2. When Ss finished, T checked the answers with the whole class.

( This time, Ss participated a lot giving their answer to the teacher).

Activity N° 5: Listening Part III

After that, a new audio was presented twice to the students. T explained Ss to work in Part. III exercise 1 and 2. Besides,  Ss had to share their answers with two classmates. Later, teacher played the game “The Ship is sinking”. T played this game 4 times. Besides, T asked Ss to work in trios, and sit together. The last audio was played, T asked Ss to listen carefully each conditional statement, and they had to fill in the blanks spaces the missing result. If it was a doubt T helped students and CCQ. To Finish, T checked the student’s answers as a whole group.

( I noticed that Ss liked to play the game “Sharks are coming”, they showed interesting behavior).

Activity N° 6: Speaking

Working in the same trio, T asked Ss to create a 3 minutes real conversation giving reasons for working hard at something, using at least 3 to 5 expressions of possible results(IF “condition”, THEN “result”). Ss had just 3 minutes to create the conversation. When they already had finished, T asked each trio to present their conversation in front of the class.

( This activity caught the attention of students, who developed a very interesting conversations, and they demostrated their knowledge).

Activity 7: Wram-up

At the end, students were asked to create two groups. Each group had to create a line and decide who was going to be the person that was going to receive the message at the begging of the line and who was going to send the message. The person that sent the message had to draw a drawing in the back of the person that was in front of him. Each student had to pass the message drawing in the back of their classmate until the first person receive the message and say what he/she had  understood.

( students enjoyed this activity a lot because it was difficult to pass the message in the student’s back).
